The shoulder area is very complex and is the place where multiple bones and ligaments come together. It is the most versatile joint in the body and provides us with a tremendous amount of flexibility and mobility, but also has a lot of potential for injury.

Common causes of shoulder pain include:

  • Injury to the ligaments such as rotator cuff tear, shoulder disclocation
  • Fractures of the shoulder complex (collarbone, upper arm)
  • Degenerative conditions such as arthritis
  • Inflammation from overuse, such as bursitis

  • Pain and stiffness in or around the shoulder
  • Limited mobility
  • Weakness of the shoulder limiting the ability to lift the arm overhead or behind the body
  • A popping or grinding sound or feeling in the shoulder
