Shoulder

The shoulder area is very complex and is the place where multiple bones and ligaments come together. It is the most versatile joint in the body and provides us with a tremendous amount of flexibility and mobility, but also has a lot of potential for injury.

Common causes of shoulder pain include:

  • Injury to the ligaments such as rotator cuff tear, shoulder disclocation
  • Fractures of the shoulder complex (collarbone, upper arm)
  • Degenerative conditions such as arthritis
  • Inflammation from overuse, such as bursitis

Symptoms:

  • Pain and stiffness in or around the shoulder
  • Limited mobility
  • Weakness of the shoulder limiting the ability to lift the arm overhead or behind the body
  • A popping or grinding sound or feeling in the shoulder
